Brave Tracks (Regional Recap)

Brave Tracks – Final Edition: Regional Recap and Reflections

As the 2025 Logan Elm Track & Field season comes to a close, we look back at a team that shattered expectations, embraced every challenge, and left a legacy of grit, growth, and togetherness. The Regional Meet marked the final chapter of this incredible journey—and what a ride it’s been.

Justin Marcum – Long Jump Justin qualified for Regionals in the long jump, but unfortunately injured his jumping foot just days before the meet due to damage in our long jump box at the Logan Elm track. He bruised his heel and gutted out his jumps through visible pain, finishing 15th in the region. His toughness and team-first mentality didn’t go unnoticed.

Michael Bock – 100m Dash Michael battled back from an injury last year and came roaring into this season with something to prove. His hard work paid off with a trip to Regionals in the 100m dash, where he finished 15th. More than his speed, it was his leadership and dedication that stood out. This senior stepped up big this year and will be greatly missed both on and off the track.

Dane Liggins – 400m Dash Dane had a breakout performance in the Regional prelims, running a personal best of 51.4 to qualify for the finals. He gave everything he had in the final and placed 8th in the region. Dane also qualified in the 4x800 but stepped aside from that race to focus on the 400—a decision that showed his maturity and competitive drive. We’re excited to have him back next year.

4x800 Relay Team – Trey Dille, Marcus Harbor, Owen Russell, Andrew Pryor This squad punched their ticket to Regionals and delivered their season-best performance of 8:50.74. They finished 14th overall, and what’s most exciting—every one of them will return next year. The future is bright.

Evelyn Sykes – 3200m (2 Mile) Evelyn continues to impress with her grit and consistency. She ran a fantastic race at Regionals, showing the kind of heart and work ethic that’s going to take her far in both track and cross-country. She’s already talking about next season, and I can’t wait to coach her again.

Ellie King – 1600m (Mile) Eliana qualified in the mile and ran with confidence and determination. She’s found her stride this year and is quickly becoming one of our top distance athletes. Her progress has been remarkable—and she’s only just getting started.

Marlo Smith – Shot Put & Discus Marlo earned spots in Regionals in both events. While the meet didn’t go as she’d hoped, she now knows what the top level of competition looks like—and she’s ready to rise to it. With her potential and mindset, I believe she’ll come back next year stronger than ever.

Maggie Wilson – Discus Our lone state qualifier, Maggie finished 4th in the discus and earned her trip to the OHSAA State Meet this Friday. Maggie has been a force all year—balancing the rare combo of two-miler and thrower. On top of that, she’s our class valedictorian and graduates with an astonishing 22 varsity letters. An exceptional athlete, leader, and person—we will miss her deeply.

As I reflect on this year, I feel nothing but gratitude and pride. Coaching this team has been an honor. The athletes have left an impression on me that I won’t forget. The culture we built together—one of belief, toughness, unity, and accountability—will continue to grow because of the leadership and example this group has set.

You gave us a season to remember. And I know the best is yet to come.

With pride, Coach Chad Disbennett
